Albany man pleads guilty to bank fraud conspiracy

An Albany man pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit bank fraud and aggravated identity theft on Monday.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit bank fraud and aggravated identity theft on Monday. Allahson Allah, also known as Gwyn Cancer, 53, faces a minimum term of two years and a maximum of 32 years in prison upon sentencing.

With this plea, Allah admitted to organizing a conspiracy to defraud SEFCU between February and October of 2022. It is alleged that Allah applied for loans using stolen identities and withdrew the money in cash.

In this conspiracy, it is alleged that other members applied for loans in other names using fake driver's licenses and gave the proceeds to Allah. Allah admitted that there was $113,800 in fraudulent cash withdrawals.

Allah was indicted alongside three other people in connection with this conspiracy. Davon Parson, of Albany, and Dnauticah Taylor-Sterman, of Albany, previously pleaded guilty in the case.

Allah's sentencing is scheduled for October 21. On top of the prison sentence, Allah may also face a fine of up to $1.25 million and a probation term of up to five years. He will also pay a restitution amount of $113,800.
