Blink-182’s Travis Barker is inviting fans along for morning run ahead of the band’s July show
The hedonistic philosophy of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll might be how some rockers live on tour, but Blink-182’s drummer, Travis Barker, just wants to take a little morning run with his fans.
Travis Barker’s Run Travis Run: A Run & Wellness Experience is coming to the Kia Forum in Inglewood on Saturday, July 6, ahead of their One More Time Tour stop at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood later that evening.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. and offer Blink fans and fitness enthusiasts a chance to take a timed morning run with Barker and participate in fitness classes and mindfulness workshops. First-time and experienced runners are invited and will receive a limited-edition shirt at the end of the run. Tickets for the inaugural event are on sale starting at $49 at runtravisrun.com.
Barker, who survived a deadly plane crash in South Carolina in 2008, was severely burned and told by doctors that he would probably never walk or drum again. Determined to prove everybody wrong, the pop-punk drummer began to take short walks every day and increase his physical activity, which later turned into short runs when he became strong enough.
“This past year, I ran my first half marathon and participated in a few 5Ks,” he said in a press release announcing the event. “The running community is massive, and I loved how everyone from all walks of life ran together and supported one another. This is what Run Travis Run was built off of, and we’re only getting started.”
Barker and singer-bassist Mark Hoppus reformed the original group’s lineup with singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2023, where they played a surprise performance at the event’s first weekend and then returned the second weekend to the mainstage in place of Frank Ocean.
The group continued to tour around the country and abroad before announcing their One More Time Tour in October in support of their new album “One More Time …” which was released on Oct. 20. The summer 2024 tour will be the first time Blink-182 will play the new material live. The tour’s California stops include Petco Park in San Diego on June 30, Save Mart Center in Fresno on July 8, and Chase Center in San Francisco on July 9.
