What to watch on TV on Wednesday 19 June, from Sin City Tow to Adam Lambert

IF reality shows are your thing, there’s an intriguing new offering from Las Vegas launching tonight.

Following a team who tow away illegally or badly parked cars in Sin City, it’s an eye-opening series delivering an insight into life in Vegas.

And pop star Adam Lambert turns documentary maker as he interviews some of the biggest LGBTQ+ music stars.

Here are TV Mag’s six telly picks for Wednesday 19 June 2024…

Sin City Tow (10pm Discovery)

There are niche fly-on-the-wall series and then there is Sin City Tow.

This ten-parter follows two family-owned towing companies in Las Vegas, who make big money from removing illegally or just badly parked cars, and charging the owners storage fees.

Of course, this being Vegas, there are some real characters involved, and many folk far from happy about what’s happened to their motor.

Adam Lambert: Out, Loud & Proud (9pm ITV1)

American singer and Queen frontman, Adam Lambert, has opened up in a fair few interviews since being catapulted to fame on American Idol back in 2009, but now he’s turning the tables as he chats to some of the UK’s biggest LGBTQ+ artists to see how they’ve made their mark in the music industry over the decades.

And there’s no better place to start than with his Queen bandmates Brian May and Roger Taylor, who speak candidly about their late friend and frontman Freddie Mercury’s experiences with his sexuality.

Plus, Andy Bell from 80s pop duo Erasure, Skunk Anansie’s lead singer Skin and Grammy-nominated pop sensation MNEK share how they’ve battled for queer rights in the industry.

Eye-opening and enjoyable viewing this Pride Month.

Botched Bariatrics (10pm Really)

Viewers of a squeamish disposition, look away now, as this series continues to show it holds nothing back.

This week, Dr Rao meets Christina, whose botched gastric band needs urgent attention as she hasn’t been able to eat solid food in 12 years.

Plus, patient Crystal arrives to see Dr Caplin and says: “I had a bad botched tummy tuck.

“I have multiple holes and a scar in the middle of my stomach that looks like a butt crack…”

Waitrose: Trouble In The Aisles? (8pm C5)

It was once considered an elite supermarket, with many flocking to Waitrose.

But after it was reported that sales at the chain fell last year, this documentary investigates what could be behind the decline in popularity.

Plus, experts reveal their tips and tricks on how you can make the most out of your weekly shop, including where the best bargains are located.

Trauma Room One (10pm C5)

It’s back to Liverpool’s Walton Centre, where the impressive staff do all they can to help people in need of  brain and spinal surgery.

Tonight we meet 50-year-old Theresa, who’s been rushed in after experiencing sudden and severe neck pain and weakness in her arms and legs.

Following an examination, the surgeons start to fear that without urgent surgery, she could become paralysed.

With time not on their side, the team must make some difficult decisions.

The UnXplained: Mysteries Of The Universe (9pm Sky History)

William Shatner asks Are We Alone? as we learn about alien probes

William Shatner returns with more mysterious and out-there tales to excite your imagination.

From planetary puzzles involving the Earth, Venus, the Sun and alien moons to bizarre events involving asteroids and extraterrestrials, it’s all here.

As you’d expect from the Star Trek icon, space exploration also features in this series.

To start us off, tonight’s instalment asks Are We Alone? as we learn about alien probes, strange phenomena and a possible ninth planet.

Although the show often poses more questions than giving us answers, it’s intriguing and good fun.
