Casualty child star unrecognisable ten years after BBC drama and landing huge new US show role

IT has been ten years since Emily Carey landed the high-profile role of Grace Beachamp on BBC one drama, Casualty.

Now on the cusp of a big TV career, the actor is virtually unrecognizable from the baby face that was beamed into millions of living rooms on Saturday night’s.

Since then the 21-year-old has starred as the young Lara Croft in Tomb Raider film 2018, the young Wonder Woman in the 2017 film and most recently the huge HBO prequel to Game of Thrones: House of Dragon.

Last year it was also announced that they would appear in the Netflix adaptation of the YA series Geek Girl.

But for one who began acting in childhood, it is little wonder that Carey has managed to carve out such a successful career.

Born into a theatrical family in London, Carey would help their grandmother, a West End wardrobe mistress, pair socks backstage.

Aged 8, they acquired an agent and landed a role in the West End production of the Sound of Music starring as Marta Von Trapp.

Then in 2013, they starred in Shrek the Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, before joining the cast of Casualty the following year.

Other exciting credits include their appearance in the Christmas music video duet with Michael Buble and Idina Menzel for Baby Its Cold Outside, filmed in New York.

They also played Mary Conan Doyle in the ITV drama, Houdini and Doyle in 2016.
