LAGOS DSVA ORGANISES “MEN WEY SABI” COOKING COMPETITION 


Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), as part of its efforts to curb Gender-Based Violence through behavioural mindset programmes, has organized a cooking competition.


Speaking at the programme held recently at Ikola Market, Ipaja, the Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs.Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, represented by Ms. Odumbo Adetoun, said the Agency’s awareness programme tagged: “Man Wey Sabi” revealed that the initiative was designed to address gender stereotypes in Lagos.


Whilst underscoring the collective responsibility to empower women, she urged the society leaders, and residents to champion gender equality and that the programme shines a light on men’s pivotal roles in ending domestic and sexual violence and promoting partnership in marriages. 


Vivour-Adeniyi also explained that the programme also includes a cooking competition, sponsored by Power Oil Nigeria Limited, to showcase culinary skills among men. The primary objective is to spread the message in a spirited manner, challenging stereotypes regarding men’s involvement in childcare and the essence of marriage partnership.


The Iyaloja of Ikola Market, Mrs. Birikisu Lawal appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration for ensuring that the society is conducive for both genders to thrive.


The winner of the cooking competition, Mr. Muyiwa Akinmuyitan appreciated the agency for bringing the initiative to the Ikola market, Ipaja. The Participants who competed in the competition Mr. Muyiwa Akinmuyitan, Mr. Emmanuel Oluwaseun, Mr. Samuel Olaiya, Mr. Idris Nurudeen and Mr. Sanni Adams
