Cessna 140
@ San Carlos, CA
October 2023
A vintage Cessna 140 gets the tail up during takeoff from San Carlos Airport. Cessna 140 aircraft were first produced from 1946-1951, immediately following the end of World War II, for the imagined post-war boom in private aircraft. This model had a metal fuselage and fabric wings with metal control surfaces. Over 7,600 of the 120/140/140A family were built by the time production ceased in 1951, making these the last of the Cessna taildraggers. The list price for a 140 was $2,995 at the time.
