Topekans receive alert about accused killer on the loose

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Multiple people in Topeka reported receiving an emergency alert Wednesday morning about an “armed man wanted for homicides.”

The alert, which has been received mostly by T-Mobile customers, is concerning an Arkansas case. Arkansas State Police say they are looking for a man wanted for multiple homicides in Oklahoma and one in Alabama. Police said the homicides stem from carjackings.

“Anyone who sees Drake should not approach him and should call 911 immediately,” an ASP news release said.

Officials with the Morrilton, Ark., police department said the suspect, 50-year-old Stacy Drake from Birmingham, was seen on surveillance footage at a hotel in Morrilton. Officers also said that Arkansas State Police notified them that the vehicle used in the homicides was parked at the hotel.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Drake was named as a person of interest after authorities found two people dead inside of a business in Gans, Okla., near the Arkansas border.
