Acadia Parish Sheriff KP Gibson sworn in for third term

Acadia Parish Sheriff KP Gibson took the oath of office Tuesday for his third term in office, which will begin on July 1.

CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) -- Acadia Parish Sheriff KP Gibson took the oath of office Tuesday for his third term in office, which will begin on July 1.

Gibson also took the oath for the office of President of the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association, which will also begin on July 1. Family, friends and members of the Sheriff’s Office attended the ceremony at the Grand Opera House of the South in Crowley.

Judge David Smith presided over the swearing in for both positions.

“I am honored to serve the citizens of Acadia Parish," Gibson said. "Our department has made our focus on serving our residents, to fight the criminal element for our families. I thank you for the continued trust that you have placed in me and our deputies.”

KP Gibson is sworn in for his third term in office as Acadia Parish Sheriff on June 18, 2024.
