Smith & Wollensky steakhouse returning to Columbus a year after Easton shutdown

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A dining brand referred to as "America's Steakhouse" will return to Columbus after previously closing its only location in Ohio the year before.

Smith & Wollensky will open a new Columbus location in 2025, the company announced Tuesday. The new Arena District steakhouse -- the seventh nationwide in the chain -- will be located in a fully renovated first-floor space at the Hyatt Regency Columbus Hotel at 350 N. High St.

In January 2023, the Smith & Wollensky location in Easton Town Center closed its kitchen after 20 years in business.

“We were deeply missed by the community when our previous venue closed at the end of our 20-year lease," said Nathan Evans, Brand President of Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group. "Now, we are excited not just to serve our loyal guests again but to be part of the fabric of downtown and the vibrant Arena District.”

Known for its USDA Prime dry-aged steaks and America Wagyu, Smith & Wollensky promised that its new location would deliver the same quality patrons have come to expect. The restaurant's steaks are sourced by its restaurant partners at Double R Ranch and Snake River Farms. Each steak is hand-butchered in-house and char-broiled to guests' desired temperature.

The restaurant in the Hyatt will feature "elegant" dining rooms, an expansive patio fronting High Street and valet service. It will include both indoor and outdoor spaces, with a combined capacity of over 300 seats with three private dining rooms and a large U-shaped bar.

Phaze Zero Design is working with Smith & Wollensky to help bring the restaurant to life.

Established in 1977, Smith & Wollensky features seven U.S. locations including Miami Beach, Chicago, Las Vegas and Boston.
