Ready to ignite your need for speed? Eager to master the art of driving a sports car like a pro? Look no further than Porsche Canada’s thrillingly unique driving experience. Located just a short 90-minute drive from Toronto at the iconic Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, the Porsche Experience is designed for automotive enthusiasts. Offering participants the chance to create their own ‘Porsche Moment’ with an iconic 911 Carrera S. Under the guidance of their skilled professional drivers, you’ll learn the ins and outs of high-performance driving, all while experiencing the exhilaration of racing around a pro track.
The full-day experience starts at the crack of dawn, with your arrival at the training centre before sitting down to breakfast. Here, you’ll be introduced to some key safety measures and learn how to handle the supercars, ensuring your safety and the safety of others on the track. Because the engine is located at the Porsche’s rear, some best practices are unique to the brand, like when to brake and accelerate at higher speeds — something not usually a consideration.
Once it’s time to hit the track, you get your very own 911 Carrera S for the day, and you know, by the end, you really do grow attached to your particular car. From the larger group, all participants are split into groups of 2-3, led by their own dedicated instructor, your guide for the day. They set the pace as you drive, imparting wisdom like a voice from above via a walkie-talkie located in each 911. Getting pointers on when to start making your turns, remember we’re going fast, the appropriate time to accelerate and, of course, when to break. We’re talking breaking like you’d never do on a city road. Breaking where when you step out of the car, it smells like burning rubber. It’s a remarkably satisfying feeling, a unique experience that you won’t find anywhere else.
With a series of dedicated laps around the track, a friendly autocross competition, and a thrilling high-velocity circuit with one of the seasoned instructors at the wheel, the day is a dream come true for any auto enthusiast. Beyond the exhilaration of putting a Porsche 911 Carrera S to the test, you’ll leave the event with a sense of accomplishment and a newfound confidence in your overall driving skills. I did.
