Voluntown residents told to shelter in place as state police investigate ‘suspicious incident’

Some residents of Voluntown have been told to shelter in place during an active investigation by state police on Wednesday.

Troopers from Troop E responded to a residence on Hell Hollow Road just before 11:30 a.m. for what they described as a “suspicious incident,” according to Connecticut State Police.

The state police’s Emergency Services Unit and the Drone Unit were both dispatched to assist in the unspecified investigation, as neighbors within a one mile radius were advised to shelter in plate, state police said. Others have been asked to avoid the area as the ongoing investigation continues.

State police did not immediately release further details.
