Greenfield woman charged with assault of Saratoga police officer

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Saratoga Springs Police Department arrested a Greenfield woman on Tuesday night in connection to a hit-and-run involving a police officer. Theresa Travis, 34, is facing multiple charges.

On June 18, while being pulled over for vehicle and traffic law violations, police reported that Travis fled the traffic stop, resulting in Sergeant Adam Dingmon being dragged by Travis' car and injured. Travis' vehicle was later located near I-87 around Exit 23.

Further investigation led to Travis being found at a home in Warrensburg, where she was taken into custody without incident. She now faces the following charges:

  • Second-degree assault
  • Second-degree reckless endangerment
  • Second-degree criminal impersonation
  • Aggravated unlicensed operation
  • Leaving the scene of a personal injury accident
  • Numerous traffic violations

Police say Sgt. Dingmon was treated for his injuries and is currently recovering at home. Travis was arraigned at the City Court of Saratoga Springs and remanded to the custody of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for a future date. Travis reportedly had two previous bench warrants for failing to appear in court. Saratoga Springs Police were assisted in the arrest by the Warren County Sheriff's Office and state police.
