BREAKING NEWS: Standoff with police in Rayne ends with arrest

UPDATE, 6/19/24, 4:05 p.m.: Police said the standoff is over, and the suspect has been taken into custody. The scene is now clear.

Arrested was Demoine Declouette of Rayne. He will be booked on 24 counts of violation of a protective order, 23 counts of telephone harassment and one count of aggravated obstruction of a highway. 

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff KP Gibson, deputies have been seeking the suspect for days on outstanding warrants. 

Authorities said deputies observed the suspect enter his residence and attempted to make contact with him once he entered the residence. After several attempts to communicate with the suspect, deputies secured a search warrant for the residence. 

Deputies entered the residence and located the suspect hiding in the attic. He was arrested without further incident, officials said. 

ORIGINAL STORY: RAYNE, La. (KLFY) -- Police are on the scene of an armed standoff in Rayne.

Authorities said Demoine Joseph Declouette of Rayne, who is wanted on an armed robbery charge, has barricaded himself in a house on Standard Mill Road in Rayne.
