I thought I’d found a cool vintage shirt in the charity shop so wore it clubbing… then I realised my epic error

A WOMAN has been left mortified after accidentally wearing a supermarket uniform on a night out clubbing.

Holly explained that she’d been hunting for unique pieces in her local charity shop when she came across an oversized white and green striped shirt.

But, after wearing it to the club, she realised her mistake – it was a Waitrose uniform

Falling in love with the item – which she thought was “vintage” – Holly snapped it up, and couldn’t resist wearing it when she hit the club with friends.

However, she later realised that the shirt was actually a Waitrose uniform.

In a video on her TikTok page, she said: “I have just realised that the shirt I bought from a charity shop last week and have been wearing all weekend is in fact a Waitrose uniform.

“Like, what? I wore that to the club Friday night.”

She only realised when she spotted the buttons on the shirt, inscribed with the Waitrose logo.

Holly added that she was hoping the “sexy DJ” she’d been eyeing up in the club was looking at her back, but joked he probably thought she had “just finished my shift at the cheese counter”.

The worst thing of all was that someone came up to Holly in the club and asked where she got her shirt from, to which she proudly said she’d got it in the charity shop as part of her “sustainable” fashion pursuit.

She also told the person that she didn’t think they’d “be able to get another one”, but then laughed: “Go to Waitrose Holloway Road.

“Everyone’s f**king wearing one. Jesus Christ!”

Holly also shared a screenshot of a man wearing the uniform in the TikTok video.

Top charity shop tips for bagging a bargain

Ross Dutton has been a manager for Crisis's charity shops for four years and currently runs the charity's Finsbury Park shop in London.

Choose your area – As a rule of thumb, the posher the area, the better quality the clothes that are donated.

Don’t hang around – If you see something you like, buy it, as it’ll likely be gone when you come back

Look out for cut-off labels – Some of your favourite high street stores will have deals with local charity shops to donate stock that isn’t sold during their own sales. Often part of the deal is that they need to cut the labels off the clothes.

Stay at home – While some charities have their own site, like Oxfam and Crisis. many also sell from dedicated eBay stores, such as British Heart Foundation and Scope. You won’t get the range of bargains that you would get in a physical store, but if you’re looking for something specific it may be worth checking online too.

“Do you have a bag had two different meanings in the club that night!” Holly captioned the clip.

“I’m cackling as a former employee who hated that uniform,” one person commented on the video.

“When your shift’s at 10 but you got the club at 9,” another added.

“That could very well be my shirt – I forgot to return my uniform and ended up putting it in a charity bag,” a third laughed.

“My friend thought she bought a vintage hoodie at a charity shop but it was a local schools sports kit,” someone else said.

“Kids walked past in the same thing!”

“We agree, it’s a gorgeous look!” the official Waitrose account wrote in the comments section.
