Heating back up for the first day of summer

What We’re Tracking

  • First day of summer
  • Isolated showers and storms
  • Heat back up for the weekend

Temperatures this morning are in the upper 60s and lower 70s. We are still seeing some isolated thunderstorms in the area. Some places having some visibilities issues with some patchy fog across northeast Kansas.

Sunshine returns today, but so does some warmer weather. Afternoon high temperatures climb into the upper 80s to near 90° with south wind at 10-15mph. This trend of warmer weather keeps going throughout the rest of the week. We can't rule out an isolated shower or thunderstorm for today and Friday during daytime heating.

Heat builds in for the weekend. Highs climb back into the middle to upper 90s with heat index running even hotter than that. Our next best chance for rain after today comes in late Saturday evening, wrapping up by Sunday morning. Hot weather then sticks around for a few more days into early next week.
