A REMOTE island is offering tourists the chance to ‘take a break’ from their day jobs and try something new – all expenses paid.
Paranormal investigator, cave conductor and wine whisperer are just some of the bizarre jobs being advertised in the scheme.
Those looking to quit their mundane careers could take one of the ‘Odd Jobs’ offered on the island of Tasmania, 150 miles from Australia.
It comes as a poll revealed a staggering 90 per cent of UK workers are unhappy in their job according to the Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace 2023 report.
But it’s bad news for Brits wanting an island escape – as at the moment the scheme is only being offered to Australians.
Visitors offered the weird work however will get expenses covered, putting nothing in the way of making a crazy career change.
Those interested in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity have to submit a short 50 words on why they want to swap their day job for an Odd Job.
The one catch is that applicants must be currently residing anywhere in Australia.
Tourism Tasmania says the number of people visiting the idyllic island has fallen short since Covid, with 1.25 million tourists visiting last year.
Winter in Tasmania is the UK summertime, running from May to August where temperatures average 3-11C.
Lindene Clearly from Tourism Tasmania told local media: “As temperatures drop during winter, we know Australians are seeking a well-being boost and a break from the daily grind”.
