Team GB fans stunned as Olympic legend SNUBBED from Paris 2024 squad despite gold medal at last Games
JONNY BROWNLEE has not been selected in Team GB’s triathlon squad for Paris 2024.
The former gold medallist, 34, featured at the last three Games, but has not made the cut this time around.
Alongside his brother Alistair, 36, Brownlee has been a stalwart of British triathlon for many years.
He earned a bronze medal at London 2012, before achieving silver in Rio de Janeiro – with Alistair taking home gold in both events.
Last time out in Tokyo he earned a maiden gold medal, this time in the mixed relay event.
Having been set to retire after the delayed 2020 Games, Brownlee reversed his decision to have a crack at Paris 2024.
Unfortunately for the GB icon, he has not made the final squad.
Alex Yee will compete in Paris, having earned a silver medal in Tokyo.
He will be joined by Sam Dickinson, who narrowly pipped Brownlee to the second spot.
Dickinson, 26, will make his first appearance at an Olympic Games.

He recently won a European Cup event in Kielce, in which Brownlee came third.
Performance director Mike Cavendish has addressed the decision not to select stalwart Brownlee.
He told the PA news agency: “It’s one of those things where Jonny has given so much to this sport and he’s still an absolutely outstanding athlete.
“There’s no doubt that, had we decided to pick Jonny, he would have still done a brilliant job.
“We’re just faced with having to make some really difficult decisions and we’ve got an athlete in Sam who just edged it this time.
“He (Brownlee) was disappointed. You’d not expect anything different from an athlete of his calibre.
“He’s programmed to go and be successful. He’s done that ever since he was a young kid racing in junior all the way through to winning a gold medal in Tokyo.
“But he understands we’ve got very difficult decisions to make.”
Team GB‘s women’s squad will be comprised of world champion Beth Potter, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Kate Waugh – with Sophie Coldwell missing out.
