Pop fans shocked as A-list singer is spotted with rarely-seen kids and dad getting ice cream on a day out in Suffolk

HE’S one of the biggest music stars on the planet.

But when he’s not performing to sold out stadiums, hanging out with A-list friends or crafting pop perfection Ed Sheeran, 33, is just like the rest of us.

In our exclusive pictures, The Shape of You hitmaker can be seen enjoying a day on the coast with his two children – Lyra and Jupiter – and dad John.

Ed wore a cap, shades and wrapped up in a blue coat as he visited the small coastal village of Walberswick, Suffolk, where the family picked up ice cream.

The singer-songwriter, whose Sheeranville estate is about a 30 minute drive away, had a smile on his face as he took youngest daughter Jupiter, two, by the hand.

Eldest child Lyra, three, walked close by and looked to be having fun on the family day out.

An onlooker said: “Ed was really nice, completely down to earth and seemed totally care-free.

“If you didn’t know who he was you’d think he was just an ordinary bloke on a family day out, he was that unassuming.

“He seemed to be relishing dad duties and spending quality time with the family.”

Globetrotter Ed was in Miami last month for the Formula One Grand Prix where he was treated to a hot lap by Mercedes driver George Russell.

Footage from inside the car went viral as Ed struggled with the sheer speed and force of the race car.

Then days later he was back in Suffolk serenading the players of his beloved Ipswich Town, whose shirt he sponsors, after they secured promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 22 years.

Ed, who is worth £300m, was very much one of the boys as he downed beer and strummed his guitar at the raucous promotion party.

He and wife Cherry kept both of her pregnancies secret but do occasionally share pictures with the kids on social media.

Cherry was diagnosed with cancer six months into her second pregnancy when a tumour was found in her arm but had to wait until after the birth to receive treatment. She had the lump removed one month after welcoming Jupiter.

The ordeal led both to reflect on their mortality and Ed turned to music as therapy, writing multiple songs in quick succession.

Cherry said: “We had the diagnosis of the tumour and the next day Eds went down into the basement and wrote seven songs in four hours.

“Some people write a diary and get their emotions out through the pen and, for Eds, if something really intense happens, he’ll go and write a song.”

Ed added: “Music’s always been like therapy to me.

“It was a way to get my thoughts and feelings down as a kid, and it works. It really works.”
