NJ Transit rail service delayed at Penn Station in NYC

NEW YORK (PIX11) --- New Jersey Transit rail service resumed with delays in and out of Penn Station in Manhattan Thursday evening, officials said.

NJ Transit service had been temporarily suspended before the evening commute due to an overhead power outage caused by a broken circuit breaker on the Amtrak rail, officials said. A brush fire in Secaucus also hampered repairs and delayed the resumption of service.

NJ Transit rail service into and out of Penn Station in Manhattan is subject to up to 30-minute delays, officials said at 9:17 p.m.

Amtrak said power had been restored as of 5:30 p.m., and all of its rail service has resumed between Philadelphia and New Haven, Connecticut. However, significant delays are expected due to rail congestion and single-tracking, according to Amtrak.

Amtrak Keystone Trains 652 and 654 will end in Philadelphia and other transportation will not be provided, the company said.

"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," Amtrak posted on X.
