San Rafael police link 3 family members to vehicle thefts

Two of the suspects were arrested after a chase on Wednesday, and the third was booked after a chase on Thursday.

Authorities arrested three members of a San Rafael family who allegedly stole vehicles in separate cases.

A mother and daughter were arrested in San Rafael on Wednesday afternoon. The driver, identified as Diehima Sharie Collins, 34, and her mother, Letta Neka Glover, 53, allegedly traveled in a vehicle that was stolen in Newark.

Officers pursued Collins after she refused to pull over, and she kept driving after the police used road spikes to deflate her tires, San Rafael police Sgt. Justin Graham said. A damaged tire came off the vehicle and the driver stopped at Hetherton Street.

Glover was arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, evasion and criminal conspiracy. Collins was arrested on the same counts plus allegations of hit-and-run driving and driving without a license.

On Thursday morning, police arrested Glover’s 38-year-old son, Deandre Ronell Lowery, on allegations he stole a vehicle along Redwood Highway in San Rafael. Lowery ran from police, who later found him in “waist-deep” mud at a creek near Mitchell Boulevard, Graham said.

Officers searched the vehicle and found allegedly stolen property linked to four auto burglaries. Graham said Lowery was also connected to three attempted vehicle theft cases. The investigation remains active.

Lowery was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of vehicle theft and obstructing police officers. He remained in custody Thursday afternoon in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Collins and Glover, whose bail amounts were $35,000, were released on bail pending further review from the Marin County District Attorney’s Office. Neither could be reached for comment.
