The greatest of the "Five Skills" baseball players: hitting, hitting for power, fielding ability, speed, and arm strength, Willie Mays, passed away on June 18, 2024, at the age of 93. This column combines a brief biography with some personal reminiscences that I have about this man, especially when he was breaking in with the New York Giants, and I was growing up as a fan of his, and of the Giants.
