The German striker spent last season out on loan at VfB Stuttgart.

Undav, 27, impressed in the Bundesliga, scoring 18 goals and providing nine assists in 30 appearances.

Sky Germany have claimed that the manager has spoken to Undav about returning to the squad.

However, the report also suggests that Stuttgart are want to exercise the option to buy Undav for £17million.

But that may not be the end of the saga, as Brighton could then activate the buy-back clause that would become active should Stuttgart buy him.

It is also said that Hurzeler has spoken to Undav about his views of the player.

Undav said: “I have had contact with Fabian. We have already had a phone call and he talked about it.

“I explained my vision to him and he told me what he thought about me.

“Of course, I talk with my adviser here and there.

“It is clear that things don’t stay calm in the market but go up and down.

“I don’t want to hear too much from outside but I want to concentrate on the European Championships.”

Undav initially joined Brighton in 2022 from Belgian outfit Union SG.

He struggled in his first spell in the Premier League, with just five goals in 22 appearances.
