Girls Aloud forced to slash prices by 50% as tour fails to sell out – and fans who paid full price are furious
GIRLS Aloud has been forced to slash ticket prices by 50 per cent as their tour fails to sell out.
Online ticket outlet AXS have dramatically dropped the price of tickets to see the girl band reunion tour, The Girls Aloud Show.
The girl group – featuring Cheryl Tweedy, 40, Nicola Roberts, 38, Nadine Coyle, 42, and Kimberley Walsh, 38 – kicked off their comeback tour at the 3Arena in Dublin in May.
It was their first time performing since fellow bandmate Sarah Harding sadly passed away following a cancer battle in 2021.
They have since played a number of arenas and venues around the country including Manchester, Cardiff, Nottingham, Leeds and Birmingham over their 30 show tour.
The band is set to conclude their tour in London next week before heading to Liverpool at the end of the month.
Ahead of Tuesday performance at the 02 – ticket prices are now on sale for as little as £39.35, with expensive seats going for £58.85.
And fans can also grab themselves a bargain for Wednesday’s final London show – with prices from £33.10.
The decision has upset fans of Girls Aloud, who had already spent between £58 and £200 on tickets for upcoming shows across the UK.
One wrote: “Girls Aloud now being offered tickets on an official website £25 I paid £113pp!!”
A second posted: “Silently fuming as there are heavily discounted Girls Aloud tickets now…”
A third echoed: “Not happy with this big price reduction for Girls Aloud tickets, I paid nearly triple this price.”
But not everyone was opposed to the idea and some were chuffed with the discounted offer.
One wrote: “Just got an email for cheap tickets to go see Girls Aloud at the O2 in London £21, quite tempted.”
First announced last November, the long-awaited reunion tour included two shows in Dublin and Belfast in May.
At their Dublin show, the girls paid tribute to former bandmate Sarah Harding, who tragically lost her battle with breast cancer three years ago.
Nadine addressed the audience at Dublin’s 3Arena, saying: “We’re going to do a duet with Sarah tonight. It’s going to be us, Sarah, you. Let’s do this together.”
The moving tribute incorporated Sarah’s vocals, while images of her were shown on a screen behind the band.
Together, they all sang their cover of I’ll Stand By You which became their second number-one in 2004.
Girls Aloud rose to fame more than two decades ago when they took part in the ITV reality show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.
They triumphed over a boy band from the show named One True Voice.with their single Sound Of The Underground.
The band went on to have three more number ones and 20 top ten hits.
