Report: Barcelona want to do ‘everything in their power’ to sign Spurs-linked star

According to Sport, Barcelona have their heart set on landing rumoured Tottenham target Dani Olmo and are expected to do all they can to ensure the RB Leipzig man arrives at Camp Nou this summer.

Olmo was sidelined with an injury for almost the entirety of the first half of last season but the attacking midfielder served everyone a reminder of his quality after returning to full fitness.

He finished the season strongly, with eight goals and five assists to his name across all competitions but it has been widely reported over recent weeks that his time at Leipzig could come to an end this summer.

This includes a report from Sport BILD (via Sport Witness) back in May which stated that Barcelona and Spurs were set to battle it out for the 26-year-old’s signature while Fabrizio Romano subsequently claimed that Bayern Munich were also eyeing a move for the Spain international.

Barca determined to sign Dani Olmo

According to Sport’s latest update, the Blaugrana have already met with Olmo’s representatives to discuss a summer transfer.

It is alleged that the Catalan club have resolved to do ‘everything in their power’ to ensure that the Spain international arrives at the club after the Euros this summer.

The report suggests that the attacking midfielder, who came through Barca’s academy, would be willing to swap the Red Bull Arena for his boyhood club before the start of next season.

The speculation linking Olmo with a move to Tottenham did not make a lot of sense from the start as it is unlikely that the Lilywhites are going to spend big money to sign another attacking midfielder to compete with James Maddison.

Spurs would likely want to sign a relatively low-cost option such as Sebastian Szymanski or Andreas Pereira to take Lo Celso’s place in the squad.
