Babar Azam to Sue Pakistan Journalist For Accusing Him of Match-Fixing During T20 WC 2024 – REPORT
Lahore: It was a T20 World Cup to forget for the Pakistan cricket team. The Babar Azam-led side could not even make it to the Super 8 stage as they lost against USA and India. While the captain and the team has faced heat already from all quarters, now there are reports that Babar went on to fix games in the USA. A senior Pakistani journalist has claimed that the team captain was involved in receiving gifts and favours in return of throwing away the match.
The journalist has claimed that Babar got an Audi E-Tron as a gift from his brother and was acquired from questionable bookies. And he has also got apartments in Australia and New Zealand.

Babar is a well-reputed player and someone a lot of aspiring cricketers look upto and hence it would be extremely disappointing if the Pakistan captain is found having any kind of involvement in match-fixing.
“We are fully aware of these negative comments. Criticism within the bounds of the game is acceptable and there is no objection to it. However, baseless allegations like match-fixing cannot be tolerated under any circumstances,” said a PCB source as quoted by the Pakistan-based news organisation.
“PCB has no doubts, so why should we conduct an inquiry? Those who made the allegations should provide proof. We have instructed our legal department to issue notices to such individuals and demand evidence. If not provided, we will seek compensation for defamation. A new law in Punjab ensures that a decision will come within six months,” the sources added.
