The boiler has broken at number five and Gemma was left in the Roy’s Rolls as she was fuming about the lack of action from her landlord.

Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) happened to be nearby as she advised her fellow resident that if she has rights as long as they are not in any arrears are and she has paid the rent on time.

The lawyer advises Gemma that she can report her landlord to the council for failing to do repairs.

He could be served an improvement notice by the governing body and could face a fine of up to £30,000 if he ignores it.

Gemma later sends angry messages to her despondent landlord as he ignores her communication.

The landlord then arrived on the doorstep of number five with a handyman to fix the boiler.

After making it clear how offended he was by Gemma’s messages, he then served the pair up a section 21 eviction notice as he revealed that they have two months to vacate the premises.

Dee-Dee then sat with the duo to go through their options as she confirmed that the landlord’s action was indeed perfectly legal as it was a no fault eviction.

With a lack of money, rising expenses and rising rent around the area the pair risk becoming homeless.

Later Chesney’s eldest child Joseph was seen to be lying to the parents of one of his school friends.

He then sat his son down on the sofa as he shared an emotional money, pleading with his son to do better as he faces leaving his childhood home.

As the depressing scenes aired on ITV1 and ITVX were left fuming by the storyline as Gemma and Chesney face a horrible fate.

“What kind of p**** kicks out a couple with 5 kids out their house for no reason?”, fumed one viewer.

As an additional watcher wrote: “Another gem/ches scene another we’re broke scene.”

Coronation Street's shock exits 2024

Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap:

Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany.

The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza’s grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life.

Paul Foreman will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes.

After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite, portrayed by Peter Ash, was devastated to learn he only had months left to live.

Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering.

Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America.

Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul’s impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full.

Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles.

The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend.

Simon’s been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy.

Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child.

It looks likely she’ll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind.

Show stalwart Eileen Grimshaw is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour.

She’s had to leave the Street immediately after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end.

But other fans thought that Gemma was entirely to blame for the demise of her and Chesney.

Someone else asked: “Why was Gemma annoyed at Dee-Dee for her own stupidity?

“Gemma an Chez are obviously going to get a 30day notice to leave ????,” noted a fourth fan.

Whilst a third stated: “I’m guessing Ches and Gemma get evicted after they upset the landlord.”
