Rounding up all Warriors and NBA related news for Friday, June 21st.

In today’s Dub Hub:

The NBA offseason is heating up, with news and rumors flooding the basketball world. The Golden State Warriors are expected to make several moves, but none are more pivotal than their final decision on shooting guard Klay Thompson.

The long-time Warrior will become an unrestricted free agent on June 30th. However, the new CBA allows teams to negotiate with their own free agents immediately after the NBA Finals, giving the Warriors a head start to potentially re-sign Thompson before letting him explore the open market.

The free agency market for Thompson is bound to be intriguing. Teams like the Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly interested in the Warriors’ sharpshooter, and it’s easy to see why. Despite no longer being in his prime, Thompson still put up impressive numbers last season, averaging 17.9 points per game with an effective field goal percentage of 55.1%. He also shot 38.7% from beyond the arc on 9.0 attempts per game.

To put this into perspective, Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk, at 25 years old, recently agreed to a four-year, $78 million deal after averaging 15.4 points per game with an effective field goal percentage of 52.6%. He shot 35.0% from three-point range on 5.9 attempts per game.

A similar contract with less years could be suitable for Thompson and the Warriors, but it only takes one team to offer a massive deal to shift the entire landscape. As the offseason progresses, all eyes will be on Golden State’s Splash Brother as he contemplates the next chapter of his storied career.

Klay Thompson Rumors: Warriors Have Offered 2-Year Contract Ahead of NBA Free Agency | Bleacher Report

The Golden State Warriors have a two-year contract offer on the table for Klay Thompson ahead of his upcoming free agency, according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.

During a Thursday appearance on The Hoop Collective, MacMahon revealed that “we’ve heard its a two-year offer” (30:25 mark). He added that the duration of the deal could mean more to Thompson than the price, explaining that “it’s as much about years as dollars in some of these cases.”

The Top 100 Players in the NBA | The Ringer

The big questions for Curry as he creeps toward two decades in the NBA are probably better posed to his supporting cast, which seems to vacillate between built to last and completely cooked in any given month. Luckily, atop the long list of Curry’s elite skills—which includes but is not limited to a motor with infinite turbo, a ballhandling bag that most mere mortals would need a third hand to execute, and the best shooting stroke in NBA history (literally)—is adaptability. This guy changed basketball forever, happily stepped aside to let KD cook in isolation, and then picked up where he left off to power Golden State to yet another title. Jalen Bridges (Baylor)

At 6-foot-7, 220 pounds, with a 6-foot-10 wingspan, the small forward has an NBA-ready physique and a 3-and-D profile. He excels off the ball, which could make him an easy fit in Golden State. He shot 41.2 percent beyond the arc last season with the Bears, showing an elite triple for the first time. Named to the All-Big 12 third team as a senior, he turned 23 last month and should be able to contribute as a rookie. Bridges worked out with the Warriors last month.

Alex Caruso-Josh Giddey trade grades: Thunder add defense, shooting; Bulls get younger | The Athletic

Being able to roll out Dort and Caruso on the perimeter is massive. Saving Williams and Gilgeous-Alexander from defending primary options as much keeps two clutch players even fresher for the end of games. Trying to score against OKC was already difficult, as the Thunder were fourth in defensive rating this past season, but they struggled to contain some of the Dallas Mavericks’ options in the playoffs. Giddey became pretty unplayable in that series, but Caruso won’t be a victim of that type of matchup. He can help the Thunder thrive.

Caruso is a free agent in 2025, but the Thunder have to feel pretty confident they can keep him around.

Bulls active as NBA Draft nears | NBC Sports Chicago

It’s why Zach LaVine’s future isn’t the only trade scenario that has been discussed, even if sources said Karnišovas has floated as many as 15 proposals centered on the two-time All-Star guard to various teams including the Sacramento Kings, Utah Jazz, Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers.

It doesn’t take a capologist to figure out the Bulls can’t add a first-round pick and re-sign DeMar DeRozan and Patrick Williams—both of which Karnišovas has said he wants to do---without entering the luxury tax unless an extremely advantageous salary cap trade of LaVine occurs.

It’s why the futures of those two players plus Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball will be in the headlines this offseason.

Lakers hire podcaster as head coach; is Draymond Green next?

It’s also probably important to note that Redick has a podcast with Lakers star LeBron James? Coincidence? I think not.

Anyway, the real meat of the story is that the Lakers hired a podcaster to be their next head coach, which would seem to set up Draymond Green for a career roaming the sidelines when he hangs up his Nikes. Just hopefully not with the Lakers.
