ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Tuesday is primary day and two democrats in the New York Assembly's 102nd district race are trying to move on to the November general election. Mary Finneran is a retired teacher and activist.

She feels the legislative session is too short and should be extended. When the state budget deadline is extended, as it was in 2024, Finneran believes the session should be extended by the same about of days the budget was extended.

One of Finneran's top goals is to improve public transportation. "People who live out in the hill towns can get public transportation to get to work and stuff, but the rest of the district, Schoharie (county), Delaware (county), they're lost without public transportation," said Finneran.

She adds, "with gas costs and car costs and the long distances people have to travel, it's really a burden for a lot of the people to be able find jobs and to be able to move around the district."

Finneran sat down with News10 to discuss the issues facing the 102nd district.
