Anti-paper leak law for exams comes into effect amid NEET, UGC-NET row

The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, effective June 21, aims to curb cheating in public and entrance exams across India. Prompted by alleged malpractices in NEET and UGC NET, the Act enforces strict penalties, including three to five years of imprisonment and fines up to Rs 10 lakh. It mandates transparency and prohibits unauthorized access to exam centers. Passed in the Budget session and approved by President Droupadi Murmu, the Act covers exams by various central government authorities.
