ITV bosses are ruining show with Ex On The Beach format – stop sending in exes, say Love Island stars
LOVE Island favourites Jess and Eve Gale said that ITV bosses should stop sending exes into the villa after this series’ shake-up.
It comes after reality star Joey Essex‘ ex Grace Jackson entered the villa as a bombshell, which gave her an immediate advantage over Samantha Kenny, who was dumped during the latest recoupling.
The twins, 25, said that the format is becoming too much like Ex On The Beach and would prefer contestants not to have history.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Jess said: “When you go in, it’s the worst possible thing when a bombshell comes in already and when they have added history – especially with Samantha, she was put at a disadvantage and was one step behind.”
While Eve shared: “I’ve seen a lot of comments saying that they’re ruined the format by copying Ex On The Beach…I think they do it to spice it up but it does feel like very Ex On The Beach vibes.
“I like how it’s normal people going in there and people who don’t know each other, it makes it more authentic.”
It’s not just Joey and Grace who know each other from the outside, new bombshell Matilda Draper also has history with Ronnie Vint, having previously dated his best mate.
It comes after the twins told The Sun that they are in talks to appear on a THIRD series of the dating show.
the twins, 25, said they have been approached by bosses from the US version of the the hit reality show, with ex-Islander Maura Higgins currently hosting the Aftersun spin-off on Peacock.
Jess, who split from Callum Jones in March, said US bosses were hoping to sign them up for last series, but it clashed with All Stars.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Eve said: “When we were in holding for Love Island All Stars…Love Island USA got in touch with our management.
“They didn’t realise that our management were running our social media when I was in lock down in Cape Town and didn’t realise that I was out of contact.
“They contacted my management about speaking to us about Love Island USA and didn’t know we were in holding for Love Island All Stars.
“So my management couldn’t speak to us as we were in holding for about a month.
“But that time we missed the casting period.
“I’m glad I did All Stars but no doors have been shut.”
Jess said that she’d be open to appearing on the dating show again, but would prefer it to be an international version.
“I always say with UK TV shows Love Island is probably the biggest show and I’m happy to have done that,” she told us.
“I think if I was to do more TV, I think it would be nice to do more in America or the idea of Netflix.
“Even in All Stars it was a bit repetitive, when you start getting people from different places and you’re in different places, with a slightly different format and cultures.
“I think that would be a bit more exiting.”
