The World Creator AI Awards is holding a beauty pageant featuring women created with artificial intelligence who will compete for the title of “Miss AI.” The top three creators of these contestants can win cash prizes totaling $20,000. 

Over 1,500 creators entered worldwide, and the top 10 finalists await the results by the end of June. The contestants will be judged on three aspects: realism, technology, and social media engagement. The AI beauty contest “seeks to celebrate creators at the forefront of AI,” along with the creators’ technical skills.

Among other social media platforms, the AI influencers each have an Instagram following with thousands of followers. Different countries such as Morocco, Portugal, France, and India are represented by these women — each with their own distinct personality and interests. One of the contestants, Aiyana Rainbow, represents Romania, and is an “AI model embracing diversity.” Her creator positions her as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community. 

There are mixed opinions about the contest. Critics contend that the AI models encourage unattainable beauty standards for women. “The images are devoid of the personal journeys and do-good that is expected of contestants these days,” former Miss Universe Singapore Valerie Lim wrote for Tatler Asia.

Two of the four judges are also AI-generated influencers — Aitana Lopez and Emily Pellegrini — who generate a hefty amount of revenue through brand partnerships. 

The competition is sponsored by Fanvue, a social media platform similar to OnlyFans, but tailored for AI creators to earn and connect with their audiences.
