Following clashes and reciprocal attacks between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon over the border areas of the two countries, concerns about the occurrence of a broader war have increased. These concerns were heightened after the confirmation of the Israeli army’s attack plan against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Israel Katz, the Israeli Foreign Minister, threatened Hezbollah militants with “total war” following the Israeli army’s statement confirming the attack plan against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah in Lebanon, also threatened Israel and Cyprus, saying that no place in [Israel] is safe from Hezbollah’s rockets. In his televised speech, he added, “The enemy knows well that we are prepared for the worst conditions… and no place… is safe from our rockets.”

Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, warned after the exchange of fire between Israeli soldiers and the Shiite group Hezbollah in Lebanon that these clashes should not turn Lebanon into “another Gaza.” According to him, the increase in “warlike rhetoric” from both sides creates the risk of a “disaster beyond imagination.”

Meanwhile, both sides (Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon) have threatened each other with “destruction,” and regional analysts have described this situation as a precursor to an imminent war following the deadly conflict in Gaza.

This warlike rhetoric has been accompanied by an exchange of fire between the two sides. According to reports, reciprocal attacks by Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon in the border areas have led to the displacement of tens of thousands of people in Lebanon and Israel.

A BBC reporter who visited villages in southern Lebanon after the Israeli attacks reported that the escalating tensions and cross-border attacks have claimed the lives of more than 70 civilians in Lebanon.

According to his report, parts of southern Lebanon have turned into ghost towns after the Israeli attacks, with residents abandoning their homes, which are at risk of destruction, and fleeing.

Meanwhile, Al Jazeera News Network has reported that more than 60,000 Israeli settlers have been displaced from their settlements after Hezbollah’s reciprocal attacks.

It is noteworthy that one of the senior commanders of Hezbollah militants in Lebanon was killed in an Israeli attack last week, and Hezbollah increased its attacks on northern Israel in response to this attack.

The United States was deployed to the region last week to de-escalate tensions between the Lebanese and Israeli sides, but no report of de-escalation has been released yet.
