Commenting on a Reddit post, user Goose-Rider revealed the unexpected item that reduced her under-eye bags.

The poster explained that she accidentally stumbled across the puffy eye solution when treating her allergies.

“I started taking Zyrtec for my allergies, and my bags reduced drastically,” she said.

Zyrtec is a 24-hour over-the-counter antihistamine available for $5.29 from CVS.

The woman, who described herself as “closer to 40,” explained that the tablets didn’t make her eye bags “go away 100%” but still showed noticeable improvement.

She recommended trying an over-the-counter allergy medication, using your best judgment.

The Reddit user suggested giving the medication some time to work before forking out for other options.

“Give it a week and see what kind of results you get before spending money on new eye cream,” she advised.

According to the Zyrtec manufacturers, the medication is designed to treat a variety of allergy symptoms, including watery eyes.

Medical experts at WebMD recommended using antihistamine medication to tackle eye swelling.

“This will help to decrease eyelid swelling and itching,” the professionals said.

They also recommended using eye drops and applying a cold compress to soothe irritated eyes.

Health.com reported on the common causes of puffy eyes in the morning.

They listed allergies, high-sodium diets, aging, and sleeping with makeup on as some of the main triggers.

According to the medically reviewed report, the tissues around your eyes weaken as you age.

Dermatologist-approved anti-aging tips

Dermatologist Dr. Brendan Camp shared his dermatologist-approved tips with The U.S. Sun.

  • Stop using tanning beds.
  • Don’t use sunscreen to contour your face.
  • Wear driving gloves to protect your hands from the sun. He likes Coolibar Gannett UV Gloves UPF 50+, $15.99 to $39.
  • Exercise, stick to a healthy diet, and get enough sleep.
  • Don’t drink excessively or smoke.

This means your skin will begin to visibly sag, allowing fat and fluids to build up in the surrounding area.

As a result of this fat, bags form under your eyes, while a fluid build-up may cause puffy swollen eyes.

Another contributing factor is allergies caused by dust, mold, or pollen.

These irritants can infiltrate the thin membrane that protects your eye, causing it to become itchy, red, and swollen.

Experts caution that puffy eyes are a temporary condition and recommend seeking medical help if they persist.
