Tottenham want a new striker this summer

There has been a lot said and written about Tottenham’s search for a number nine this summer and Gold has now provided a comprehensive update regarding the same.

He says that Spurs have been running the rule over several names including some of the best players across Europe.

On the domestic front, Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke are both thought to feature on Tottenham’s wishlist.

Tottenham have looked at six strikers so far

The Lilywhites are also reportedly looking at many names from outside the Premier League, including Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres.

Gold says that Tottenham began work on identifying a new number nine soon after Johan Lange took over as the technical director last year.

The journalist adds that the aforementioned six names are a part of a ‘longer list’ of forwards, whose metrics have been studied closely to decide if they would fit the needs of Postecoglou.

It does not appear at the moment as if Tottenham are making any progress on deals for any of these names.

The club may be waiting for more clarity on Ivan Toney’s situation and perhaps waiting to see if Brentford lower their demands.
