A BEAUTIFUL blue pool with turquoise waters can be easily mistaken for a scene from a tropical island.
But you won’t have to travel far as this charming lake is actually located in the UK.
Even locals have been left stunned when they found out about this “hidden treasure” nestled within the Furzebrook estate in Dorset.
The sparkling pool was once a clay pit dug by hands but it was disused before the start of WW1.
The pit was then transformed into a pool with rainwater over the years and re-opened as a nature reserve.
Now it is a fan-favourite amongst families in the South West who are looking for a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of cities.
The lake’s renowned turquoise waters are caused by suspended clay particles that scatter light, giving the impression of being in a tropical location.
Although the water in the pool isn’t suitable for swimming, you could enjoy a leisurely stroll around the lake which spans 1.8 miles circular.
Along your walk, you can spot a diverse wildlife including rare birds like a nightjar, grey squirrels, rabbits and badgers.
You might also run into some reptiles such as green sand lizards and even snakes.
The lake is surrounded by lush trees and boasts a campsite and a playground.
You can also take in the breathtaking views as you walk across the UK’s longest rope bridge.
If you get peckish from your explorations, you can always pop down to the tearooms for delicious food.
However, the entry to the Blue Pool isn’t free – albeit the pricing is affordable and reasonable.
Adult tickets will set you back only £7.50 while kids’ entrance will cost you £3.75.
Recently, holidaymakers from outside the region have been discovering the hidden gem as they travelled South.
One traveller posted a TikTok as he showed his visit to the quintessential location in England.
Many people, including locals, have flocked to the comments to express their amazement at the natural wonder.
