David Beckham lines up Man Utd reject Raphael Varane as he plots new Inter Miami Galacticos era with huge transfer spree
INTER MIAMI owner David Beckham is eyeing up a bid for ex-Real Madrid and Manchester United defender Raphael Varane, according to reports.
Varane, 31, left Old Trafford at the end of last season after three years with the Red Devils.
He departed at the end of his contract and is now a free agent searching for his next club.
According to The Mirror, Beckham’s MLS side are interested in making him their latest big-name acquisition.
He would join Barcelona legends Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba, with Sergi Roberto also linked with a move to the Florida club.
The MLS transfer window does not open until July 18, but Varane can join now as he is not affiliated with any club.
During his decade at Real Madrid, the French centre-back won three LaLiga titles, four Champions Leagues, one Copa del Rey, three Spanish Super Cups, three Uefa Super Cups and four Club World Cups.
Varane, who also claimed the World Cup with France in 2018, left for Man Utd in 2021 and lifted a Carabao Cup and FA Cup in England.
But he has struggled with injuries in recent seasons and started just 16 Premier League games in the 2023/24 campaign.
After his Man Utd departure was announced before the end of the season, he said: “It’s been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wearing that shirt.

“The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Manchester United player was insane, the atmosphere was amazing.
“When the fans go to Wembley it’s something they remember for life. To share that moment with them [winning the Carabao Cup] was absolutely amazing.
“Despite the fact we had a difficult season, I’m very positive for the future.
“The new owners are coming with a clear plan and a great strategy.
“I’ll see you at Old Trafford to say goodbye for the last game at home this season [against Newcastle] and it’s going to be a very emotional day for me, for sure.”
