Bettors expect Oilers to complete incredible 3-0 Stanley Cup comeback with Game 7 win over Panthers

The public wants to see some history.

The Edmonton Oilers are one game away from becoming the fifth team in NHL history to successfully come back from a 3-0 hole in the playoffs, and just the second ever to do it in a Stanley Cup Final.

Perhaps hoping to see a bit of history, bettors think the Oilers will succeed.

At BetMGM, 69% of bets on the moneyline have the Oilers winning Game 7 Monday, with 65% of the handle also siding with Edmonton. That’s despite the Oilers going back on the road where they lost the first two games of the series.

The game is a pick’em with -110 odds on both sides.

Bettors are more split on the total, with 56% of tickets predicting the game to go over 5.5 goals and 75% of the money on the under.

If the Oilers win, they’ll be the first team to overcome a 3-0 deficit since the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the 2014 playoffs. They’ll be the first to do it in the Stanley Cup Final since the Toronto Maple Leafs came back to beat the Detroit Red Wings in 1942.

Edmonton would also be the first team from Canada to win the cup since 1993, making their fight back a fitting obstacle to overcome. The Oilers haven’t won the cup since 1990.

For Florida, the collapse would be devastating after the Panthers appeared on track to win their first cup in franchise history.
