Redditor Tiffany_Heggebo shared the wedding tip in a post.

“I just had my wedding and did all dried florals,” she said.

Not only did the dried flowers free up money for other things for her wedding, but it also freed up time.

“It saved me a ton of money, and because I didn’t have to worry about them wilting, I had a year to make everything, and there was no stress right before,” she said.

The bride explained that she asked for help from her local community to source the flowers.

“I did buy a few bouquets but for the bulk of the flowers, I went on a local Facebook group and asked everyone for any bouquets they had that they were about to throw out,” she said.

“Right after Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day were the best, especially because I had planned to use a lot of red roses and baby’s breath.”

The process of drying the flowers, she explained, required just a few materials.

“I hung them up to dry and set them with hairspray,” she said.

“The only downside was how much space they took up.

“But I managed to finish everything 4 months in advance, kept a basket of spares just in case, stored the pieces, and tossed what I didn’t need to clear up the clutter.”

The project was fairly inexpensive, considering that wedding flowers can cost upwards of thousands of dollars.

“In total, including ribbon, floral tape, wire, etc. I spent maybe ~$100 on florals,” she said.

One explained that even though the project took many hours, she was able to save money by planning everything herself.

“I used sola wood flowers, Michaels, and Walmart greenery for my wedding and arranged it all myself!” she said.

“It was a huuuuuge undertaking. Probably 60ish hours altogether of planning, dying, and arranging the flowers and a lot of mental energy.

Although it took a lot of time, she explained that it was worth the investment, especially since she was able to make most of her money back.

“But it only cost $400ish, and I got a few hundred back when reselling, so it was worth it for me.”

“Seconding this! I did sola wood flowers and just ordered fresh greenery (eucalyptus and baby’s breath),” said another.

“If you enjoy the DIY process, it’s a lot of fun working on the flowers!”
