Justin Timberlake Knows He’s Had a ‘Tough Week’
While onstage Friday night, the singer addressed his DWI arrest for the first time.
Less than a week after his DWI arrest in the Hamptons, Justin Timberlake returned to the stage (aka the “world tour”) to publicly address the incident for the first time. According to Entertainment Weekly, the singer stopped his Friday night concert at Chicago’s United Center to speak frankly with his fans, expressing gratitude that they’d shown up at all. “We’ve been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights,” Timberlake said in footage posted to social media from the show. “It’s been a tough week, but you’re here, and I’m here, and nothing can change this moment right now.”
Following a long bout of applause, he added: “I know sometimes I’m hard to love, but you keep on loving me, and I love you right back. Thank you.”

While not quite a pointed public apology — though I’m sure Timberlake’s wife Jessica Biel might appreciate one — we can all read between the lines. This man is sorry, regardless of whether that remorse is fueled by his family, his fans, or his desperation not to ruin the world tour. Anything but the tour!
As you’ll recall, the 43-year-old was pulled over and arrested by a local cop in Sag Harbor on Monday night after reportedly driving through a stop sign. According to “Page Six,” Timberlake swore he’d had just one martini while out with friends and was following them home when the stop occurred. TMZ claimed to have obtained the police report from the evening, which said Timberlake reportedly had “bloodshot” eyes and a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage,” while refusing a breathalyzer test three times. The singer is expected to appear in court on Wednesday, where he’ll be represented by attorney Ed Burke Jr.
