Sarah Dempsey is a cleaning expert at My Job Quote, a UK-based company that connects homeowners with tradespeople.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared must-try bathroom cleaning tips.

SHINY SOLUTION

Dempsey said toothpaste can easily get “stuck” on parts of your sink when brushing your teeth.

Luckily, the unsightly residue can be used for cleaning the basin.

“Next time you notice toothpaste marks around the sink, grab a sponge or damp cloth and give your sink a quick scrub with it,” she said.

“The toothpaste residue will act as a gentle cleaner for the bathroom and will leave your sink looking sparklingly clean and smelling minty fresh.”

FIZZY FIX

Many homeowners may be unaware of the “effective” cleaning properties of Coca-Cola.

Dempsey revealed the fizzy liquid can be used as an alternative to other toilet cleaning products.

“Grab a bottle and pour it around the rim of your toilet bowl,” she said.

“Leave it to do its thing for roughly an hour and then give it a good scrubbing with your toilet brush.

“This will effectively remove all of the stubborn stains from the toilet bowl and leave it fresh and clean.”

HOT HACK

Dempsey revealed there are two simple ways to clean tile grout.

She said the heat from steam cleaners can “easily” life dirt and grime for a fresh look.

“Begin by filling the steam cleaner with water and add a small brush attachment to it,” she said.

“Then, run your steamer along the grout lines in your tiles. Use gentle scrubbing motions as you move along.

“You should see the stains begin to lift as you go along. You may need to repeat the process if necessary.”

Reserve bleach for heavily stained areas of grout.

Alternatively, bleach can be used to get rid of any stubborn stains on tile grout.

Dempsey said the chemical shouldn’t be used for cleaning regularly because it can cause some discoloration to the grout.

“Reserve bleach for heavily stained areas of grout,” she said.

“When cleaning with bleach, you need to make sure you keep the room well-ventilated.

“Simply pour some bleach into a small container and then dip an old toothbrush into it. Scrub the tile grout with the bleached toothbrush.

“Continue dipping the toothbrush in the bleach every now and again to make sure you are getting good coverage.

“You may want to lay an old towel or rag underneath, as bleach may stain your carpets or other surfaces.

“Also, you will need to wear gloves and old clothing.”
