Cheney teases Trump by showing Swift's 'sold out crowd'

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) jabbed former President Trump by sharing a video of pop star Taylor Swift’s “sold out crowd.”

“Thank you @taylorswift13 for giving us a million reasons to smile. PS- @realDonaldTrump this is what a sold out crowd actually looks like,” Cheney wrote on social media platform X.

Cheney reposted a video from Swift’s “Eras Tour” in London, where the mega-star brought boyfriend Travis Kelce on stage during her “Tortured Poets Department” segment. Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, and Swift garnered national attention when the duo first started dating.

The romance also caused a frenzy on conservative social media at the time after The New York Times reported that President Biden was hoping to clinch Swift’s endorsement for November’s election. Cheney, a Trump critic who lost her primary last cycle to a challenger backed by the former president, had defended Swift at the time, saying that the singer was a "national treasure."

Trump has brought up Swift numerous times in recent weeks, saying during a closed-door House GOP meeting that he was “surprised” Swift has not supported him, according to Rep. Ben Cline (R-Va.).

In a new book released last week by Variety co-editor in chief Ramin Setoodeh, Trump called her “unusually beautiful” and said, “I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump” when he was asked about the music sensation.

“Who’s Taylor Swift?” Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung asked when reached for comment on Cheney’s post.

Trump has repeatedly touted the size of his rallies, but the large numbers have been called into question. MSNBC reported last month that Trump inflated the size of a rally he held in the Bronx when his campaign said 25,000 people had attended. The New York Times reported that the campaign had a police permit for 3,500 people for that event.

The Biden-Harris HQ account on X on Sunday also took aim at the size of Trump’s rallies, posting side-by-side photos of Trump’s rally in Philadelphia and President Biden' remarks at the same venue.
