“IPL Contracts Prevent Afghanistan From Beating India”: says Pakistan Journalist

Afghanistan’s cricket team made history by defeating the powerful Australians for the first time, extending their chances of making it to the 2024 T20 World Cup semifinals. Following their victory over Australia, Afghanistan became the buzz of social media, with cricket fans applauding their ascent. But there are still many who question the Afghanistan team’s honesty about playing India because of “Indian Premier League contracts.” However, seasoned all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin of India is unwilling to encounter such presumptions.

Pakistan can defeat any team in the world, except for India, according to a Pakistani writer on X (previously Twitter), since they need to obtain IPL contracts from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“Afghanistan can beat any team in the world except India for obvious reasons. IPL contracts are very precious,” the journalist posted.

An furious Ashwin replied to X’s owner, Elon Musk, by stating that he would not tolerate these kinds of comments on his timeline.

“I can’t tell u what to do @elonmusk but I should certainly have the right to decide who enters my house. My timeline my decision,” he wrote.

When someone suggested Ashwin to block such people, he said: “It’s shouldn’t be my duty to block a set of handles every day. I know who I want to follow.”

In this T20 World Cup, Afghanistan has already defeated Australia and New Zealand. In the tournament’s Super 8s, the Afghans will next play Bangladesh; a win there would increase their chances of advancing to the final four.

But in order for Bangladesh to advance directly, India must also defeat Australia in their last game. If Afghanistan defeats Bangladesh by a wide margin and Australia defeats India by a narrow margin, Afghanistan can also qualify.
