Resident rescued from San Anselmo fire

Firefighters and police officers rescued a resident from a two-alarm house fire in San Anselmo.

The fire was reported around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in a single-story house at 1 Caleta Ave. Fire damaged the living space and garage but did not extend to nearby homes or the wildland, Ross Valley fire Capt. Bryan Galli said.

Eight engines responded to the fire.

Galli said that Ross Valley firefighters and Central Marin police officers removed a senior from her home during the fire.

She was taken to a local hospital “in good condition for an evaluation,” he said. The resident’s pet hamster also was rescued and was not hurt, Galli reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
