SAN SABA, Texas (KXAN) -- A boil water notice was issued Monday for parts of the City of San Saba due to a loss of pressure, according to the city.

The city said because of the loss of pressure, they are "unable to maintain the minimum standard of pressure required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality."

The TCEQ required the city to issue a boil advisory, which affects the following areas:

  • S. Live Oak extending from E. Church to Chappel Rd.
  • W. Annex St. from 10th St. to S. Live Oak
  • E. Annex
  • E. Chappel St.
  • S. Bluffton
  • E. Ragsdale St.
  • E. Mound St.
  • S. Water St.
  • Stone St.
  • S. High St.
  • CR. 301

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify
customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes. Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice.

The City of San Saba said it is working diligently to restore water service to all customers who are in the affected areas.
