After a strong start to the 2024 season, Dearica Hamby has been named the replacement for Cameron Brink on the USA 3x3 Women’s National Title for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Despite Cameron Brink’s injury, the Sparks will still be represented on the USA 3x3 Women’s National Team. On Monday, Dearica Hamby was named as the replacement to the roster for Brink in news that was still bittersweet.

Hamby joins Cierra Burdick, Rhyne Howard and Hailey Van Lith on the roster.

Hamby is in the midst of a career year for the Sparks. The 10th-year forward is averaging 17.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists, all career-high marks. She’s been the bright spot for a Sparks team that has struggled mightily even before Brink’s injury.

The experience Hamby has with the 3x3 program at Team USA likely played a role in her selection as well. Hamby was on the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup team that won the gold medal. She also took part in the April 3x3 camp, separate from the 5x5 camp for Team USA.

As part of the press release announcing Hamby to the roster, USA Basketball 3x3 national team director Jay Demings included a quote on Hamby.

“It is an honor to announce Dearica Hamby’s addition to the USA 3×3 Women’s National Team and we look forward to getting to work as a squad very soon. USA Basketball continues to keep Cameron Brink in our thoughts as she focuses on her recovery.”

Brink was originally set to anchor the roster before suffering an ACL injury against the Sun last week. The devastating injury ruled her out not just for the Sparks season but, obviously, the 2024 Paris Olympics as well.
