T20 World Cup semi-final schedule confirmed

South Africa and Afghanistan will square off in the first semi-final of the tournament in Trinidad and Tobago, while India and England will face off in the second Guyana knockout match.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup knockout stage dates, teams, and locations have been confirmed.

After qualifying first in Group 2 of the Super Eight stage, South Africa will play Afghanistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday in an attempt to keep their perfect record in the tournament.

Afghanistan’s win over Bangladesh in the Super Eights final game in St. Vincent secured their spot in the final four. In a game impacted by weather, Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh for 105 runs after scoring 115/5 in the opening innings, earning an 8-run victory (DLS method).

On Thursday, unbeaten India and reigning T20 World Cup champions England will square off in the second semi-final in Guyana.

India defeated Australia to secure their place in the semifinals on Monday. They will face Jos Buttler’s team in a rematch of their crushing battle from the previous T20 World Cup in Australia two years ago.

In the process of winning their second Men’s T20 World Cup, England easily defeated India at the Adelaide Oval by a 10-wicket margin.

Semi-final schedule:

First semi-final: South Africa v Afghanistan, Wednesday June 26 (8:30pm local), Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago

Second semi-final: India v England, Thursday June 27 (10:30am local), Guyana National Stadium, Guyana
