‘He had to really court me!’ reveals Jeremy Clarkson’s partner Lisa as she gives rare insight into their romance
LISA Hogan has been dating Jeremy Clarkson since 2017, but doesn’t think a marriage is on the cards for the couple.
Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1 last Sunday, Lisa explained that a wedding isn’t ‘important’ to her and how Jeremy ‘persuaded’ her to date him.
Radio presenter Miriam O’Callaghan asked Lisa: “Farms can be a great place to get married. Might you ever propose to Jeremy?”
Yet Lisa was quick to dismiss the idea as she explained: “I would say the only husbandry happening on the farm at the moment is with Ajax, who is our boar, and we’ve just put him back in with the sows!”
The Dublin star added: “At this stage in your life, I think, it’s not an important thing as much as it would have been a couple of decades ago.”
Lisa, who built her career in the modelling industry in the 1990s before switching into the entertainment industry, has also opened up on how she and Jeremy initially started their romance.
She explained how she and the former Top Gear presenter “met through mutual friends who had tried to set us up a couple of times”.
Yet the turning point came at a Christmas party as she said: “I was just about to leave and we were introduced and he said, ‘No, no, come on, sit down and have a chat’. And that was it, really.”
She added: “So he called me a couple of days later and I thought, ‘Ok, you’ve got a bit of a rep’ – so he had to really court me!
“He courted me for a solid three months!”
She also revealed that Jeremy is “good company” as she told listeners how the Diddly Squat farm owner makes her laugh.
She shared: “He’s very, very good company. And he does make an effort to make me laugh a lot, which I really appreciate. And we do – we get on.”
Jeremy and Lisa have been together since 2017. Mum of three Lisa also features in Clarkson’s Farm on Amazon Prime, which is now in its fourth series.
Lisa was previously married to Baron Steven Bentinck for 30 years before splitting in 2011, and she shares three children with him.
Jeremy was married to Frances Cain from 1993 to 2014, and he has three children with her – Emily, Finlo and Katya.
