Dustin Poirier joins analyst team for UFC 303
If Dustin Poirier is retired, he’s starting the next phase off in style.
Poirier will join Teddy Atlas, Chael Sonnen, and Brendan Fitzgerald on the analyst desk for UFC 303, taking place this Saturday in Las Vegas. The commentary team will be the traditional pay-per-view squad of Jon Anik, Joe Rogan, and Daniel Cormier, with Megan Olivi serving as the sideline reporter, and Din Thomas handling real-time analysis.
This comes less than a month after Poirier fell short in his lightweight title fight against Islam Makhachev at UFC 302. Follow the loss, Poirier suggested he’s “leaning toward” retirement.
UFC 303 is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight rematch between Alex Pereira and former champion Jiri Prochazka. Originally, the International Fight Week card was supposed to be headlined by the return of Conor McGregor against Michael Chandler, however, McGregor withdrew from the card due to injury and Pereira and Prochazka stepped in on short notice to save the event.
Also on the card, Brian Ortega takes on Diego Lopes in a featherweight matchup, Anthony Smith faces Roman Dolidze in a light heavyweight fight, and Ian Machado Garry squares off with Michael “Venom” Page in a welterweight bout.
