I flew on the world’s best airline – here’s why it definitely lives up to the hype
THE world’s best airline for 2024 has been revealed – and I was lucky enough to fly with them.

Winning the award for the 8th time, it also won Best Business Class, Best Business Class Lounge and the Best Airline in the Middle East
It was even named the best airline earlier this year by Airlineratings.com, knocking Air New Zealand off the top spot.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said, “This is a proud Qatar Airways moment and it is my honour to share this award with my hardworking colleagues.
“This award is testimony to our relentless dedication to providing unparalleled service and innovation. We look forward to more wins in the future.”
I flew with the airline last year, while travelling from London to Sri Lanka via Doha.
One stand out for me was the crew – they were extremely helpful and friendly while toeing the line of attentive and giving you space.
The planes are clean too, unlike other airlines where you’re likely to find an errant crisp or sticky table.
I was lucky enough to try it’s award-winning business class too, the QSuite.
Having flown in a number of other business classes with other airlines, I also understood why it is often named the best in the world.
One of the highlights was it’s closing door, which allows complete privacy.
Other airlines are now replicating this, but Qatar was one of the first to implement it in the airline industry.
Along with privacy, it has some of the best amenity kits, offering minis from the beauty brand Diptyque, along with White Company pyjamas.
And it’s food was top tier too, with an afternoon tea having scones and cakes as well as .
The main highlight is the closing privacy door[/caption] The free fizz on arrival is also a great perk[/caption] The food is worth trying too, with three course menus and afternoon tea[/caption]You know a mocktail is good when people are choosing that over the free fizz – I was obsessed with the mint and lime concoction.
Of course the main attraction is the lie flat bed, where even I, who struggles to sleep on planes, managed some shut eye.
It was also helped by the Do Not Disturb light and squishy purple blanket.
It’s safe to say that it’s clear why they keep winning best airline.
Here are some of our other airline reviews, including what it’s like to fly with Emirates.
We also tried out Finnair’s unusual non-reclining business class.
And here is what you can expect from flying with Korean Air, who have the best plane food in the world.
