Ben Affleck Was in Full Papa Bear Mode During a Recent Altercation With Paparazzi

When it comes to his kids, Ben Affleck does not mess around (as he shouldn’t!). The actor recently went into papa bear mode with an aggressive group of paparazzi outside his home, and we are completely on his side.

In a video obtained by TMZ, the Argo star was leaving his marital home, who he shares with wife Jennifer Lopez, in a car by himself on Sunday night. Photographers were waiting at the bottom of a hill for him, anxious to get photos of the actor amid rumors of his and J. Lo’s split. However, they flashed their cameras at him, allegedly impacting Affleck’s vision. He got mad, and stopped the car to get out of the vehicle and yell at one man in particular.

“Listen, man, you’re going to get me in an accident,” he said in the video. “Don’t flash your lights as I’m driving down the driveway.”

“Don’t do that. That’s dangerous. You don’t even know if that’s me,” he continued. “You could cause an accident.”

Another photographer got in his way to take pictures, prompting Affleck to issue another warning, clearly exasperated. “Stop, man. It’s dangerous what you guys are doing. Do you understand?” he asked. “I can’t see. You’re going to get somebody hurt doing this s–t. Jesus Christ, my daughter’s coming down here. If you flash your lights on her, you’re putting her in danger. Do you understand that?”

Affleck shares kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, while Lopez is mom to twins Max and Emme, 16, with ex Marc Anthony. Having several teen drivers in the blended family would make anyone cautious, and blinding them with flashing lights while they try to drive at night is just a recipe for disaster. Good for Affleck for sticking up for himself (and his kids!) by confronting those photographers.

On Saturday, Affleck was spotted spending quality time with his eldest daughter, who recently graduated high school, in pictures obtained by Page Six. He wore a white t-shirt under a plaid button-down shirt with jeans as he joined Violet for lunch at the Tasty Noodle House in Los Angeles. She looked trendy in a midi-length black dress over a white t-shirt and black tennis shoes, with a mask over her face.

Affleck recently told Kevin Hart on Heart to Heart that his signature angry face has to do with his feelings about the paparazzi that are constantly hounding his family. “I’m also a little bit shy,” the Oscar winner said. “I also don’t like a lot of attention. That’s why people see me and they’re like, ‘Why’s this dude always mad?’ Because somebody has their camera and sticks it in my face and I’m like, ‘Okay, here we go.’”

“Also because I’m with my kids and they’re taking my picture,” he continued. “Actually, what I’d like to do is much more definitive than just look at you like this. I don’t mind, you can take my picture at a club or a premiere, with my wife, I don’t give a f*ck. Knock yourself out. I don’t notice you. But with my children that’s a different thing.” It seems like this latest encounter just pushed Affleck over the edge, and it’s completely understandable.

With protective dad like this in their corner, though, these kids will be just fine!
